Rescue. Foster. Adopt. Right here on the South Carolina coast.

South Paw Rescue is a warm, foster-based nonprofit serving the Grand Strand—Murrells Inlet, Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Garden City, Pawleys Island, Litchfield, and Georgetown. We pull pets from tough situations, provide loving foster homes and veterinary care, and place them with families who will cherish them for life.

About Us

Meet Your New Best Friend

Looking for a goofy hiking buddy, a couch-snuggling bestie, or a gentle companion for the kids? You’re in the right place. Our pets live in local foster homes, not kennels, so we really get to know their personalities, routines, and quirks. Every pet is given age-appropriate vetting and lots of love before adoption. Click any profile to learn more and start the adoption process. If you don’t spot your match today, sign up for alerts—new faces from Horry and Georgetown Counties arrive often.

How Adoption Works

We want every adoption to be joyful and stress-free—for people and pets.

Here’s what to expect:

1

Apply (a few minutes)

Tell us about your home, schedule, and what you’re hoping for in a pet. This helps us pair you with animals who’ll thrive with your lifestyle—busy beach walks in Myrtle Beach, quiet evenings in Pawleys Island, or anything in between.

2

Meet (and fall in love)

We coordinate a meet-and-greet with your chosen pet. Bring the family or resident pets if you’d like. Our fosters share honest notes about personality, training, leash manners, crate comfort, and favorite treats.

3

Vetting & Ready-to-Go

Our pets receive age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neuter when applicable, dewormer, preventatives, and a wellness check. Many are microchipped before going home. We’ll explain any ongoing care in plain English so you feel confident from day one.

4

Welcome Home

Complete the adoption, take the cutest “Gotcha Day” photo, and start your happily-ever-after. We’re here after adoption with tips, resources, and cheering you on.

Fostering Saves Lives

Fostering is one of the most impactful ways to help. When you open your home for even a short-term stay, you create a lifesaving spot for the next pet in need from Murrells Inlet, Georgetown, or Myrtle Beach. We cover veterinary care and provide guidance; you provide love, structure, and a comfy corner. Fostering also lets us learn the pet’s personality—crate skills, house manners, kid-friendliness—so we can place them in the right forever home. New to fostering? We pair first-time fosters with supportive volunteers who’ve been there. Weekend foster? Vacation relief? Foster-to-adopt? Yes, yes, and yes. If you’ve ever thought, “I’d help if it were simple,” this is your sign.

Your Gift Makes Care Possible

As a volunteer-run, foster-based rescue, donations go straight to animal care—healthy food, safe housing, prevention, and medical treatment. The reality along the Grand Strand is that many pets arrive needing more than basic vetting. Your generosity turns scary beginnings into bright futures. Whether you give once, set up a monthly gift, or purchase items from our Amazon Wish List, you’re part of every happy tail you see on our feed.

$25 helps cover dewormer and flea/tick prevention

$50 helps cover vaccines and a microchip

$100 helps cover spay/neuter or urgent meds

We can ALWAYS use supplies like food, toys, pads, ect...

We’re a local nonprofit. If you need a donation receipt for your records, just ask—we’re happy to provide one.

Proudly Serving the Grand Strand

South Paw Rescue is rooted in Murrells Inlet and proudly serves families across Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Garden City, Litchfield, Pawleys Island, and Georgetown. Our community knows us for being friendly, responsive, and absolutely determined to help pets in need. If you’ve searched for “adopt a dog near Myrtle Beach”, “dog rescue in Murrells Inlet”, or “foster a pet in Georgetown, SC”, you’ve found a group that lives here, shops here, and partners with local veterinarians and supporters. Because we’re foster-based, each pet experiences real home life—daily routines, leash practice on neighborhood streets, car rides to local parks, and lots of love from people who treat them like family. That knowledge helps us make great matches, reduce returns, and support adopters long after Gotcha Day. Whether you’re a retiree in Pawleys Island looking for a calm companion, a busy Myrtle Beach family wanting a playful pup, or a first-time foster in Surfside Beach, we’ll meet you where you are with honest guidance and practical tips. Adopt, foster, or donate—together, our Grand Strand community gives every pet a fair shot at a happy life.
